Whenever I am unmotivated, I ask myself what kind of a person I want to be. Do I want to be hardworking, kind, determined and intelligent? Do I want to create or do something meaningful, make a difference? And then I ask myself what I can do to become that person. For me, this school year started well, but unexpectedly since the second semester we have turned to distance learning: we are in quarantine. This year I had an opportunity to choose my English teacher, for me, it’s very important for studying. The year was full of both successes and failures. During this 10th grade I have learned that after all, the best success stories are involved with failure. I’ve participated in some translational projects, written essays, done analyses and grammatical tasks, read small novels, and improved my English skills as much as it was possible. During the lessons, we listened to some stories taken from real life and articles and then discussed them, watched some movies, played grammatical games, and sometimes took tests on the past topics to strengthen our knowledge. Before we switched to distance learning in January we had undertaken a large-scale and responsible project with Mrs Irina, but unfortunately, because of the quarantine, we have not completed it yet. We started shooting an interesting detective movie. There were many obstacles, constant weather changes, our employments, lessons, but even they couldn’t stop us. Every detail started from the script was carefully defined by us, students. When all this is over, we will finish shooting our film and show it, and I hope that the work we have done will be appreciated by the audience. I’ve learned to be more responsible and organized, but I will lie if I say that I have always completed all the tasks, cause my laziness is sometimes stronger than me, and I am not always motivated for studying. But whenever I lose my motivation I remind to myself that every great professor, every single one: every lawyer, psychologist, doctor, economist, teacher, engineer… started as nothing more than what I am now, student. I hope that the next school year will be more productive, full of educational achievements and many new projects.
